Daniel Bone will take on the Great North Run on September with a friend, and is aiming to raise £5,000 for charity Breast Cancer Care.

Daniel's mother was with stage 3 breast cancer in April.

He said: "After the shock and emotions subsided we decided to run the Great North Run.

"Neither myself or my friend have done much exercise for years, but we are now both in training to get fit and raise as much money as possible.

"Together as a family I'm sure we can help her beat this and with great friends around her we can do this.

"My mother is kind hearted and would do anything she could to help others, now I'm saddened by having to ask for your help to raise funds for breast cancer care to help her and others like my mother beat breast cancer."

Offshore worker Daniel has printed posters and asked businesses to display them as part of his bid to raise money, and is promising further challenges, should he reach his target.

He said: "If I reach this goal, I will find a more difficult challenge every year to train for, until my body can no longer cope!"
