Tickets are on sale now for the Yorkshire Sporting Legends Charity Dinner, hosted by Hilton Leeds City, where the former Whites manager will take to the stage to share his views and sporting stories.

It is hoped the event will provide much-needed cash to the Leeds-based Children's Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF), which has also been chosen as the Hilton City Leeds' Charity of the year.

Last week, the YEP launched a 'Have a Heart' campaign, to help the charity reach its £1m target for donations in 2020.

Gary Morrison, general manager at Hilton Leeds City, said the hotel's links with CHSF go back several years and they are only too happy to continue to support the charity.

"We have chosen the Fund as our charity of the year because we have worked with them in the past. We have supported their Wear Red Day for a number of years and we recently provided funding for a sensory room in a new theatre at the unit," he said.

It will also raise funds for the DM Thomas Foundation, which is affiliated with Hilton and has provided funding to CHSF in the past as part of its work to support disadvantaged children across the UK.

Mr Morrison added: "We are committed to making a difference to our community and this event is just one way we can support two great charities that have a significant impact on the lives of local children and families at a time when they need support."

Sharon Milner, CEO of the Children's Heart Surgery Fund, said: "We are very grateful to Hilton Leeds City for supporting CHSF by hosting this exciting event to celebrate another local champion - Howard Wilkinson.”
