LNER delays: Major disruption between Leeds and London Kings Cross as all passengers advised against travel

Damage to overhead electric wires has blocked all lines between Stevenage and Kings Cross, causing delays and cancellations.

All trains from Leeds Station are currently terminating at Peterborough.

One passenger has told the Yorkshire Evening Post they are stranded at Peterborough station and will have to travel to Cambridge to try and join a train to the capital.

They said there are large queues of passengers waiting for taxis from the station.

LNER has advised all customers with tickets to London Kings Cross this evening not to travel.

They will be issued a refund for their tickets.

The National Rail said: "There is damage to the overhead electric wires in the Finsbury Park area.

"As a result of this, trains to and from London Kings Cross/London St Pancras International may be cancelled or severely delayed by up to 60 minutes.

"Major disruption is expected until the end of the day."

In a tweet, LNER said: "Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between London Kings Cross and Stevenage all lines are blocked.

"Customers are advised DO NOT travel today and to obtain a refund for their ticket via their original point of purchase. We're sorry for any inconvenience."
