Key workers in Leeds have been verbally abused while doing their job, it was revealed this morning.

The actions of these individuals, who swore at workers who are keeping vital services running in the city, has been met with fury.

The abuse was hurled at officers and contractors while they were carrying out essential work.

And the people of Leeds have spoken out to defend the key workers on the receiving end of the abuse:

Jainey M Saji said: "This is not the time to argue. We need to save lives."

Sławomir Slav said: "All key workers should not pay taxes right now. We risk a lot to keep this country going!"

Marion Walker said: "These people shouldn't be out. They need apprehending."

Paul Nuttal said: "What possible reason is there ever to act in such a way? Some people seem to think they are immune to this virus, their ignorance and ridiculous actions could potentially put 1000s of us at risk."
