The charity, which rescues and rehomes unwanted cats and kittens, is facing financial hardship after the pandemic forced them to close its shops and cancel fundraising events.

Nic Willis, a fundraiser for Yorkshire Cat Rescue, said that the volunteers are "extremely concerned for the future."

She said: "With COVID-19 upon us, we are extremely concerned for the future of the charity.

"We are deeply worried about how it will affect the cats that rely on us, and also the people that come to us needing our help.

"With our centre and charity shops being closed as well as the cancellation of fundraising events we are facing a huge loss of income.

"We couldn't be more grateful to everyone that has donated to us over the years, but we need their help now more than ever before.

"We understand that times are difficult for so many people out there, but we would like to thank anyone from the bottom of our hearts that can help us, even with the smallest donation."
