Pictures taken this morning (Friday) show litter strewn across the green space.

There were even reports of someone dragging a sofa on the moor to sunbathe and a DJ turning up to entertain the crowds.

Martin Miller, who saw the aftermath of Wednesday, when temperatures hit nearly 30 degrees, said: "If you were in Hyde Park yesterday and chose not to take your rubbish home with you, I’m flabbergasted.

"This morning Hyde Park looks more like a landfill site, just as if there had been a festival on there yesterday.

"For months it’s looked green and clean yet as soon as we’re all allowed some 'outdoor' socialising it’s turned into an area for refuse disposal.

"It really isn’t difficult to take your own rubbish home with you.

"Huge pat on the back to the guys and gals cleaning up the tonnes of rubbish they really shouldn’t have to."

A man cycling through the area this morning, who did not want to be named, told the YEP he saw large group of people still singing and dancing close together from the night before.

"They were clearly not distancing within the guidance suggested at the beginning of the week," he said.

"There was litter all around, suggesting that there had been a much larger group overnight.

"A couple of people from the council were picking up the litter.

"People can take their own risks, and they looked like young people so low risk, but asymptomatic spreading is a big thing and I worry that these people will spread infection to others more at risk."

The man said he thought it would be unlikely everyone would be able to remember who they came into close contact with, rendering the Government's Track and Trace programme useless if any one of them had Covid-19.

"But most disappointing is the litter," he added. "It was everywhere and disgusting.

"It demonstrates such a selfish and arrogant attitude to the environment and other people that live near the park or use it."
