Third day of no coronavirus deaths at Leeds hospitals in nine days

It is the third time zero deaths have been recorded this month - the other days being Monday, May 4 and Saturday, May 9.

And it is only the third time zero deaths have been recorded at Leeds hospitals since lockdown.

The NHS England data reflects deaths from the latest reporting period which is 5pm on Tuesday, May 12.

The current total of Covid-19 related deaths in Leeds hospitals is 279.

Across Yorkshire, a further 32 coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in hospitals.

This brings the total number of deaths in hospitals in the region to 2,191.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death in hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.
