Seven more confirmed Covid-19 deaths in Leeds hospitals

Figures released by NHS England on Friday, May 8 record seven confirmed new deaths under the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

This data reflects deaths from the latest reporting period which is 5pm on Thursday, May 6.

Four people died on Wednesday, May 6 and one person died on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

This brings the number of Covid-19 deaths in the city's hospitals to 270.

Across Yorkshire, a further 36 coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in hospitals.

This brings the total number of deaths in hospitals in the region to 2,037.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death in hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.
