The areas of Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees are subject to new lockdown measures due to a spike in confirmed coronavirus cases.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced the measures on Twitter at 9.15pm on Thursday, July 30.

They came into effect at midnight on Friday, July 31.

These are the rules for travelling in and out of the area and visiting friends, family and hospitality businesses in the affected areas:

The government has confirmed that people living inside and outside of this area can continue to travel in and out for work.

This means people can travel into Leeds for work.

People who live in Leeds can travel to Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees for work.

Can people from outside of the lockdown area visit people who live in the lockdown area?

No. Visiting people's houses in the lockdown area is not allowed.

This will be illegal.

Can people visit care homes in the area?

People should not visit friends or family in care homes, other than in exceptional circumstances.

Care homes should restrict visits to these circumstances.

Can people travel outside of the lockdown area to attend a wedding ceremony?

Yes. Weddings and civil partnership ceremonies in these areas can still go ahead.

No more than 30 people should attend a marriage or civil partnership.

Large wedding receptions or parties should not currently be taking place.

Can people travel into the lockdown area to attend a wedding ceremony?

Yes.

Can people travel into a place of worship in the lockdown area?

Yes, but they must socially distance from people outside of your household.

Can people go on holiday in the lockdown area, or visit shops, leisure facilities, or cafes in it?

Yes. However, they must avoid socialising with people indoors when doing so.
