Figures released by NHS England on Sunday, May 17 record one death under the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

This data reflects deaths from the latest reporting period which is 5pm on Saturday, May 16.

The person died on Friday, May 15, bringing the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the city's hospitals to 286.

Across Yorkshire, 11 new coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the region's hospitals, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in Yorkshire hospitals to 2,266.

It's one of the lowest daily death totals in Yorkshire since NHS England records began.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death in hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.

The new deaths confirmed across each hospital trust in Yorkshire are as follows:
