Now teams at a Leeds company have been working tirelessly to finish thousands of items for frontline staff at London’s Nightingale Hospital.

Infinity Apparel say they are “humbled” to think that the uniforms they printed will soon be worn by those leading the fight against coronavirus.

The printing for the last of the t-shirts was completed yesterday after a big push by staff at the branded clothing supplier, which was founded in 1999.

Managing director John Carden said: ”We are proud to be doing our bit to support the NHS and other vital industries at this time.

"This work for NHS Nightingale is something I think we will remember all our lives and we’re honoured that our long-standing relationship with M&S has enabled us to be a part of the project.”

The clothing destined for the London Nightingale staff was donated by M&S, as part of its wide-ranging of activities to support the NHS.

The specially branded ‘We are the NHS’ t-shirts made in Leeds will form part of a uniform pack for the staff.

The company has transformed its facility in recent weeks, in an effort to remain operational while observing social distancing guidelines.

Mr Carden said: “It is a challenge operating within the restrictions, but we know how important it is to people’s livelihoods that we keep our facility open.

"We’ve had to make adjustments to the environment but the core team are still able to work safely, observing all the Government recommendations – and that’s a huge bonus.”

As it tries to preserve as many jobs as possible, the company has offered its services to businesses classed as ‘vital’ for the national response.

It estimates that around 70,000 items of branded uniform will have been produced in a direct response to the increased demand for such workwear.

“It humbles me to think of all the fantastic frontline staff across the country wearing uniform our team have branded here in Leeds,” Mr Carden said.

“From nurses and doctors to supermarket staff and delivery drivers, we have shipped thousands of articles of clothing in the past fortnight and I couldn’t be prouder of our team.”
