Leeds Cares has launched an urgent appeal to support 18,000 NHS staff in Leeds during coronavirus.

The official charity partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals said they want to 'support hard-working NHS staff during these challenging times ahead'.

On a Facebook page set up to for donations, Leeds Cares said: "The unexpected arrival of coronavirus is placing continued pressure on our local NHS services in Leeds, following a difficult winter.

"Your donation will go towards care packages, assistance with travel and accommodation where needed, as well as helping to fund other health and wellbeing initiatives to boost staff morale.

"Our hospitals are run by 18,000 dedicated staff – from doctors and nurses to porters and cleaners – who are all working together to provide the best possible care for patients and their families."

£120 has been raised at time of writing towards a £50,000 target.
