Leeds boys help raise £1,500 for NHS in kick ups football challenge

Four boys smashed their target of 50,000 kick ups to raise more than £1,500 for NHS Charities Together.

Three boys from Leeds and one from Cumbria completed a grand total of 75,000 kick ups between them over a week during lockdown.

Eight-year-olds Leo Harington and Freddie Manser and Freddie's 11-year-old brother Luca - all of Horsforth - completed the challenge along with the Mansers' cousin George Curry, 10, of Cumbria.

Generous family and friends donated to the appeal to support health heroes via the NHS Charities Together and donated more than £1,500 to the Just Giving appeal called 'Luca, Freddie, Leo and George's 50,000 kick ups for the NHS.'

The YEP is celebrating #healthheroes across Leeds, who are the very front line of keeping our nation safe during the coronavirus crisis.

The boys were inspired to fundraise for the NHS by 99-year-old Captain Tom Moore from Keighley, who raised more than £29,000 by walking a hundred lengths of his garden.

Leo's mum Sally Harington, said: "I'm extremely proud of them. They have been home schooling and in their break times and in the evenings thay have been steadily doing the kick ups."
