Covid in Leeds: Here are the areas with the highest infection rates as surge testing to begin
The Covid infection rate is rising quickly in Leeds - and these areas are the worst-hit.
Across the UK, there has been a 79 per cent rise in one week in cases of the Delta variant first identified in India. The increase across the UK is being driven by younger age groups, many of whom have now been invited for a vaccination as the jab rollout extends to anyone aged 18 and over.
Leeds recorded an infection rate of 188 new cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to June 15, the latest Government figures available. That's up 66 per cent from the previous week.
Cases in some neighbourhoods have soared and the council is introducing surge testing in the worst-affected areas from Tuesday.
