Coronavirus related incidents at two Bradford schools

There have been two coronavirus 'incidents' at schools in Bradford, the local authority confirmed.

Thornton Primary School, in Thornton, and High Park School, Heaton, have been affected.

Helen Rowland, CEO of Focus-Trust, which runs Thornton Primary, said there had been one confirmed case at the school, which remains open.

She added: "The health and safety of our children and staff is our highest priority. Like all Focus-Trust academies, Thornton Primary School has undertaken comprehensive risk assessments and put a strict hierarchy of controls in place to ensure school is as safe a place as possible.

"In this case, we have followed the advice of Public Health England and Bradford and will continue to monitor and review the situation very closely."

There has also been an incident at High Park, a specialist school for pupils with communication and interaction difficulties.

It is currently listed as closed on the Bradford Council website.

The school has been contacted for comment.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of incidents at High Park School and Thornton Primary School.

"We are working closely to support the schools who have liaised with Public Health officials and acted quickly and appropriately to isolate staff and children in accordance with their advice.”
