The Government has outlined the social distancing measures we should all take, such as avoiding non-essential travel, large gatherings and visiting restaurants, pubs or bars. The guidance states people can leave their house to visit open public spaces like parks for exercise, as long as they maintain a safe distance to others. With this in mind, here are 10 things you can still do in Leeds during the coronavirus pandemic. Always take care and follow the guidelines to protect your health.
1. Take a walk around Harewood House
Harewood House will reopen its ground and gardens on Saturday. The house is closed - but the formal gardens on the Terrace, the Lakeside Walk and gardens, Bird Garden and Childrens Adventure Playground are open.
2. Join an online yoga class
North & Soul Yoga, based in Otley, is hosting two live yoga classes on Facebook every weekday. Get involved for some much-needed peace and tranquility - and exercise.
3. Enjoy spring flowers at Kirkstall Abbey
The grounds at Kirkstall Abbey are open and covered in spring flowers. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the grounds.
4. Devour a fancy takeaway
Many of Leeds' restaurants are closing their sites and moving to delivery options. Tattu (pictured) is launching a special delivery menu soon for a fancy takeaway treat.
5. Volunteer to help the most vulnerable
If you are healthy and not in self-isolation, then why not volunteer? Volunteers are stepping in to deliver food and care packages to the elderly and vulnerable, such as We Care Leeds (pictured)
6. Look at Leeds' museum collections - online
Museums and galleries in Leeds are closed, but the official Twitter account will continue to share stories, facts and pictures from the collections. They also record a podcast which you can listen to online.
