Yorkshire student overcomes glandular fever to celebrate exam success

HAVING to cope with severe illness did not stop one North Yorkshire student achieving top marks in her A-level results today.

Tadcaster Grammar School student Lucy Allis battled with glandular fever during her exams and could hardly get out of bed on most days.

However despite this, she managed to sit them all and excel in them

When she received her results this morning there were tears of joy and relief for both her and her parents Deborah and Mike.

“I am over the moon and cannot believe it,” said Lucy, who received 1A* and 3As.

Her mother Deborah Allis said: “Despite her illness she worked incredibly hard and deserves everything she has achieved,”

“We are extremely proud of her, very tearful and very emotional.”

Lucy will now take up her place at Exeter University where she will study drama and theatre studies.
