Leeds primary school applications: Everything you need to know as deadline approaches

There is less than a week left for parents and carers in Leeds to apply for their child's primary school place.

Children born between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016 will need to apply for a Reception place for September 2020.

Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for learning, skills and employment, said: "Deciding on a primary school is a very important decision for parents and carers to make, and we want to support them making their choice.

"It is very important that families use all five of their preferences to give their children the best chance of attending one of their preferred schools."

When is the deadline?

Parents and carers have until Wednesday, January 15 to submit the application for their child's Reception place for September 2020.

How can I apply?

Parents and carers need to visit the Leeds Council website to complete the online application process, found here.

Families without internet access can discuss their available options with the admissions team by calling 0113 222 4414.

You must apply for a school place using the address where the child lives for most of the time.

I need help with the application - what should I do?

A range of information is provided by schools and on the council's website to help families make a decision, and choose schools where they have a realistic chance of getting a place.

Alternatively, Leeds Council are holding two drop-in sessions to help those applying, at the City Centre Community Centre in Merrion House.

The sessions will run today (Friday) from 9.30am until 11.30am and on Tuesday, January 14 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.

When will I find out which school my child has been placed at?

For families applying online, offers for primary school Reception places will be sent out via email from 9am onwards on April 16.
