Coach Richard Agar has mixed feelings after Leeds Rhinos’ win

An 83rd minute penalty ended Rhinos’ five-match losing run and Agar saw positives from his side, but also admitted they made some “dumb and crazy errors”.

Agar said: “At times I am questioning what we are thinking out there, but I always felt we had a strong desire to win the game.

“At half-time we asked some of our senior guys to stand up a bit more and go and try and win it.

“While it definitely wasn’t perfect and there were way, way too many errors and brain explosions, I thought we showed some strong determination at times.

“Every time we got in a position to pull away from them, we did something ridiculous.

“I am happy to get the win, but under no illusions - we still have a lot of work to do.”

Agar praised teenager Morgan Gannon as a “shining” light and also hailed contributions from Jarrod O’Connor, King Vuniyayawa and Konrad Hurrell, whose run set up the field position for the winning penalty.

It was Trinity’s seventh defeat in as many games this year.

They were reduced to 15 players early on after Jordan Crowther suffered a foot injury and Dave Fifita sustained a cracked rib, but coach Chris Chestrer was “proud of their efforts”.

He said: “I’ve told them to have their heads held high.

“The blokes are trying their hardest, running their blood to water, and I think our luck will hopefully change shortly.”
