The Lost and Found’s romantic cocktail.

Leeds is set to be lucky in love this year as some of the city’s favourite bars and restaurants up the romantic stakes for Valentine’s Day.

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach (City Buzz note: doesn’t just apply to men) and so we have a round-up of some of the love-liest places to wine and dine, vegan-style too, next Thursday.

Over at Oporto, resident takeover Knaves Kitchen are serving four courses of 100 per cent vegan food, with a welcome glass of fizz, before tucking into the likes of bamboo shoot crab cakes; an “Edible Flower Garden” of potato and beetroot roses, courgette tulips, tricolour soil & herb garden purees; oyster mushroom and tofu fritters and a decadent Millionaire’s cheesecake dessert, with rose chocolate.

Neon Cactus is doing snacks for “Just the Two Of Us” with half a roast chicken, salsas, guacamole, pickles and tortillas and a special Valentine’s Strawberry Spritz.

If you really want to impress the other half, it will be well worth the £50 for an exclusive five-course menu of seasonal dishes, all of which are lovingly prepared by head chef Jamie Clinton at Shear’s Yard. You’ll start with black garlic bread with whipped truffle butter, before moving on to hand-cut beef tartar; roast hake cooked in chicken fat hollandaise; and ponzu-glazed duck breast. All are rounded off with a blood orange sponge and dark chocolate ganache.

An evening of fine food is to be had at Shear’s Yard.

Declare your feelings in the tastiest way possible and sip on a selection of Lanique rose cocktails, all served with a love note to make you blush at Lost and Found. The Rose Royale is a fizz with sweet rose, topped with handpicked petals or opt for a Rose Tonic, a unique and zingy twist on the classic G&T. A three-course menu will warm the heart with winter favourites including king prawn linguine; coconut, sweet potato and butternut squash curry and poppy seed battered hake, finished off with the yin and yang sharer dessert.

Meanwhile, Tattu, on East Parade, is sharing the love this weekend with screenings of Hitch and When Harry Met Sally in private dining rooms with a three-course meal.
It features Hearts and Roses dim sum and a traditional Chinese snowflake cake dessert.

And if that doesn’t sound cheesy enough – then this certainly will.

Whether you’re sharing a candlelit cheeseboard, drooling over a ripe brie or staring into the eyes of a loved one while you’re dipping bread into a bubbling fondue; cheese can become its own source of love.

It’s cheesy but effective – Homage2Fromage.

If you want to experience the pleasures of cheese this Valentine’s Day, then look no further than Homage2Fromage. The cheese aficionados are holding an Alpine cheese club at The Adelphi pub on Thursday.
Tuck into eight delicious cheeses from the Alpine region, including some melted raclette, all served with local bread, crackers, chutney and fruit.
Nick Copland, co-founder at Homage2Fromage, told City Buzz: “We absolutely love cheese and eating eight [types] of them on a night out with your loved one is pretty much the hottest date in Leeds.
“We’re all about offering unique cheese-based events that surprise and delight and Alpine cheese certainly delivers on that.
“Date or no date.”
