Four years on, Leeds Hyde Park FC boasts 15 junior teams and four adult teams, providing support and opportunities for all in the LS6 area.

During the months of lockdown when the teams were unable to play matches, members instead channelled their efforts into providing local families with food parcels.

Such selfless dedication and sacrifice to help others was clearly lost on the cowardly burglars who dealt the club a crushing blow on Sunday by stealing £5,000 worth of vital equipment. This heartless act has placed the short-term future of the club in jeopardy.

We hope the kindness the club has shown to all in the community will now be repaid as they launch a fundraising campaign to get back on their feet in time for the new season.

Hopefully, the culprits will be brought to justice even sooner.
