Yorkshire Energy ceases trading as thousands of residents switched to Scottish Power

The Yorkshire Energy website hosts a statement from CEO Annie Faulder alerting customers to the change and cease of trading.

The statement reads: "After 2 and a half years in operation we have sadly ceased trading. We have operated since day 1 with the simple values of transparency and honesty, paying our renewable obligations on time and having customer service that we are proud of.

"Ofgem, the energy regulator, has appointed Scottish Power as the new energy supplier for our customers as of Sunday 6th December.

"We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to our customers and colleagues for their loyal support over the years. Continue to expect great service, push for green energy and do your part to get the UK to net zero.

Customers have been switched to Scottish Power as of Sunday December 6 in a process called Supplier of Last Resort - ensuring residents have power.

Previous Yorkshire Energy customers should visit the Scottish Power website to enter their details as soon as possible.

In an FAQ on their website, Scottish Power said: "It’s quick, simple and secure. Please note, without your Direct Debit details you’ll have to pay for your energy by cash or cheque, which may work out more expensive for you. Once you’ve entered your details, we’ll take care of everything."

Energy supplies will not be cut off for previous customers, Scottish Power confirmed.
