A post put out by at least two employees who work at the Leeds HQ of the national supermarket chain has asked people to head down to local stories with passports and National Insurance number if they are looking for work.

One post, put out by Daniel Finney, who works in promotions and events, said: "If anyone is in need of some temporary work for 4 weeks (and possibly more!), we are in desperate need of your skills at ASDA.

"Please contact your local ASDA store from Friday and mention you have seen this post and that I work in Asda House. If then asked, take along your passport and your NI Number and we may well start you the following day.

"All shifts available - mornings, afternoons and evenings plus night working.

"All stores would really appreciate your help in this climate. It’s a bit of extra money if you’re struggling and have been let go without pay.

"Please share!"
