Costa Coffee creates nine jobs at its ninth Leeds coffee shop and second in Merrion

Costa has created nine new jobs ahead of its ninth coffee shop in Leeds.

The chain is the latest tenant to move into the Merrion Centre’s arena quarter leisure development, which comprises nine units, after acquiring a unit of 3,750 sq ft.

The cafe, which joins Pure Gym, MFA Bowl and Cosmo at the leisure space which faces the First Direct Arena, will open on December 4.

There are over 1,500 Costa Coffees in the UK, including nearly 100 stores within Yorkshire. This will be Costa’s second outlet in the Merrion Centre.

For the first time, Costa Coffee will also use the premises to showcase a new large vinyl design featuring artistic drawings of coffee cups.

Julia De San Luis, Costa Coffee store manager, said: “Our existing store in the Merrion Centre is our most popular Costa in Leeds.”

She added: “There is huge demand for a second store in the Merrion Centre and we’re confident it will be just as popular.”

Meanwhile, MFA Bowl has just renewed its lease with TCS for another 25 years. MFA bowl has been a part of the Merrion Centre, which is owned by Town Centre Securities, for 49 years.

Helen Green, associate director of estates for Town Centre Securities, said: “We have seen some incredible footfall data through the centre since the First Direct Arena opened.”
