Users began speculating about the future of the The Headrow pub after spotting Greene King signage in the windows.

People were upset about the prospect, with one Leeds fan saying: "Hope the rumour isn’t true about Three Legs Leeds going to be a Greene King pub.

"I will miss match day karaoke if true."

Others added: "Can’t beat the Three Legs on a matchday. Another great pub about too lose its identity" and "The Three Legs getting taken over by Greene King is possibly the most devastating news I’ve ever heard. RIP to the greatest pub in the world."

However, a Greene King spokeswoman confirmed that the pub isn't being "taken over" by the national chain, as it has been a tenanted pub already for years.

The spokeswoman said: "This is actually a tenanted pub we’ve owned for a number of years so suggestions we’ve only just taken it over aren’t accurate."

The Three Legs pub is currently closed due to Leeds being under Tier 3 Covid Level restrictions - meaning hospitality businesses are unable to open.

It is usually a very busy pub and is well known for its lengthy karaoke sessions.
