The east Leeds favourite, in Austhorpe, has opened its outdoor seating area with plenty of cover from the rain. This chippy is fully licensed and serves pints, gin and bottles of wine - so you can really make an evening of your fish and chips.
2. Kirkstall Fisheries
The queue outside this Morris Lane chippy on a Friday night speaks volumes. Customers praised the crispy batter and golden chips which “melt in your mouth”. The potatoes are locally-sourced and there’s plenty of extras on the menu, including pies, burgers and sausages.
3. Wetherby Whaler
This family-owned fish restaurant chain has sites in Wetherby, Pudsey and Guiseley. Customers praised the Covid-safe measures and “excellent quality haddock with crisp batter and lightly fried chips”. It regularly tops the TripAdvisor charts for the best chippy in Leeds.
4. Bearded Sailor
This popular Pudsey chippy has recently launched a ‘School of Six’ deal - six Skinny Sailors (small fish and chips), six pots of sauce and six ice cream tubs for £30. Customers said the chips were “fluffy inside and crispy outside, delicious every time.”
5. Maypole
Customers loved the “perfectly crispy batter with succulent fresh fish” at this Otley fish and chip shop on Cross Green. It’s a family-run business and is open until 9pm on Friday evenings, serving extras including desserts and soups.
6. Shadwell Village Fish Shop
This 109-year-old fish and chip shop has been run by the same family for 50 years. Customers loved the safe online ordering system and the "freshly-fried, delicious" fish and chips.
