Leeds supermarket opening times at Christmas and New Year 2020: when major Asda, Aldi, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s will be open

Here’s the definitive list on which of the major supermarket stores are open and for what opening hours around Leeds during the Christmas and New Year period:

Sainsbury's

Arndale Centre, Otley Rd, Headingley, Leeds, LS6 2UE

The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 8EQ

Moor Allerton Centre, Leeds, LS17 5NY

The superstores in Headingley, the Headrow and Moor Allerton will operate as usual from 21 December to 23 December, opening at 6am and shutting at 12am.

Christmas Eve - Open at 6am as usual but an earlier close, at 7pm.

Christmas Day - All Sainsbury’s superstores will be closed on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day - The stores will open at 10am and shut at 5pm.

On the bank holiday Monday on the 28th, Sainsbury's will open at 8am and shut at 8pm. The store will also open at 7am and shut at 9pm on both the 29 and 30 December.

New Year's Eve - The stores will open at 7am but shut at 7pm.

New Years Day - Sainsbury's will open at 9am and shut at 7pm on 1 January.

All stores will return to its usual operating hours on the 2 of January.

Aldi

Aldi superstores in Leeds will open at 7am and close at 11pm from 21 December to 23 December this year.

Christmas Eve - The stores will open at 7am and close earlier, at 6pm.

Christmas Day - Aldi superstores will be closed on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day - The stores will also be closed on Boxing Day.

On 27 December Aldi will open at 10am and close at 4pm. From 28 December to 30 December the superstores in Leeds will open at 8am and close at 8pm.

New Year's Eve - Aldi will open at 8am and close at 6p.

New Year's Day - Aldi will be closed on New Year's Day this year.

The stores will operate as usual from 2 January onwards, but to plan your shop at your local branch, make sure to check out the store locator for more specific information.

Tesco

Roundhay Road, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 4BU

The superstore in Roundhay will be operating normally throughout the week, opening at 6am and closing at 12am on 21 Monday, then operating as a 24-hour store throughout the week.

Christmas Eve - Tesco superstore, including all Metro and Extra stores, will open at their usual hours and will have an earlier closing time of 7pm.

Christmas Day - All Tesco stores, including the Roundhay superstore, will be closed on Christmas day.

Boxing Day - While no information has been put out on the stores hours on Boxing Day, they will likely reopen as usual, and potentially shut at a similar time to Christmas Eve.

On 27 December Tesco will operate as normal, and after New Years, on 2 January the store will go back to its normal opening times.

New Year's Eve - Tesco Supermarket will open as usual but will shut around 6pm to 7pm.

New Years Day - Open as usual and shut down again at around 6pm to 7pm.

Morrisons

43 Merrion Centre, Leeds LS2 8PL

Morrisons superstores in Leeds will all open at 6am and close at 12pm from 21 December to 23 December this year.

Christmas Eve - The stores will open at 6am and close at 6pm.

Christmas Day - All Morrisons superstores will be closed on Christmas.

Boxing Day - The stores will open at 9am and close at 6pm.

Both the Kirkstall and Harehills stores will open at 10am and close at 4pm on 27 December, however, the Merrion Centre Morrisons will open at 11am and close at 5pm.

Morrisons has not released its opening times for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, however, looking at information from last year, they opened at 7am and closed at 6pm on New Year's Eve.

Last year, most stores opened and closed their doors from 9am to 6pm on New Year's Day, and resumed their regular hours after 2 January.

Asda

Asda superstores will open at 6am and close at 11am on 21 December. The stores will open at 7am and close at 11pm on both 22 and 23 December.

Christmas Eve - Asda will open at 7am and will close at 7pm.

Christmas Day - All Asda stores will be closed on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day - Asda will remain closed on Boxing Day this year.

Superstores will return to their normal hours on 27 December to 30 December.

Asda has not yet released information on their opening and closing times over New Year, though last year the stores ran reduced hours, with many superstores opening at 9am and closing at 7pm on 31 December.

On New Year's Day, the stores opened later, running from 10am to 5pm, with the hours returning to normal on 2 January.
