Leeds nurse launches self-care Glow Mama pamper boxes for fellow new mums

The Glow Mama Box is a monthly self-care subscription box for mums of 'all ages and stages'.

Founder Danielle Campey, who works as a breast cancer nurse at St James's Hospital, came up with the idea after visiting a spa with her own mum to celebrate her 50th birthday back in March last year, just before the lockdown hit.

Her mum Tracy, who also works in the NHS as a bereavement nurse, said: “It was probably the first time we had spent some time together since she had the baby.

“It was such a lovely day and we realised just how valuable it is to have some guilt-free indulgence as mums.”

Tracy explained it was a “lightbulb moment” in which her daughter, who has an 18-month-old son, knew she would love to create something which encouraged mums to take the time to pamper themselves and just relax.

The Glow Mama Box officially launched last May and Tracy says it has gone from strength to strength.

The box contains five to six items luxury self-care products from local brands to businesses all over the UK.

The items are hand-picked and tried and tested by mums, ranging from aromatherapy candles to bath bombs and sweet treats.

The box also contains a Glow Mama Monthly Self Care Planner with access to an exclusive members Facebook group to interact with other mums and share ideas on how they are looking after themselves.

Tracy said: “Mums are often so busy looking after other people that they aren’t always good at looking after themselves without feeling guilty.

"The Glow Mama Box makes it easy for them.”

The boxes are available as a subscription or to purchase box as a one-off treat - subscriptions start at £23 a month.

50p from every box is also donated to The PANDAS Foundation, a charity that supports mums and families coping with perinatal mental illnesses.

Tracy emphasised how immensely proud of her daughter she is, she said: “She’s trying to support other mums whilst being a good mum herself, she’s just an amazing person and I am incredibly proud.”
