Striking shot puts Leeds snapper in frame

An amateur photographer has captured Yorkshire life through his lens to snap his way into the finals of an international competition.

Shaun Walby is one of just two UK contestants to earn themselves a place in the 
finals of the Outdoor Photographer of the Year competition.

The Water’s Edge category with his image of The Strid at Bolton Abbey.

The Horsforth photographer’s shot will be the only Yorkshire photograph in the final.

He said: “I am lost for words.

“Given the standards in 
the shortlist, I am utterly thrilled.”

The overall winner will bag themselves a dog sled trip to the Arctic with the Swedish polar exploration team.

The winners will be announced at the Telegraph outdoor and Adventure show at the London ExCel arena on February 15.
