Where is The Repair Shop filmed? Location of the barn on the BBC programme - and if you can visit
The BBC One show, hosted by Will Kirk and Suzie Fletcher, follows the restoration of family heirlooms, as professional craftsmen work to bring them back to life
BBC One’s The Repair Shop is not just any old restoration factory, as craftsmen bring family heirlooms back to their original condition and each repair has a story to tell.
From furniture to children’s toys and jewellery, furniture restorer and frontman Jay Blades uses his team of professionals to revamp and mend the memories of those who knock on their warehouse door.
So, where is The Repair Shop and can you visit it? This is what you need to know.
Where is The Repair Shop filmed?
The stunning backdrop to the restoration projects is equally as eye catching as the projects themselves, as The Repair Shop is situated in an idyllic barn.
The Repair Shop is filmed in the Court Barn of the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Singleton, West Sussex.
Located in the Lavant Valley, the museum has been open since the 1970s and has been home to The Repair Shop since filming began in 2017.
Can I visit the museum?
The museum is open to visitors all year round, and is a perfect tourist spot as it sits just by South Downs National Park, near Chichester.
It’s usually open to the public for visits, but due to Covid restrictions you can only visit for outdoor purposes at the moment.
Advertised as “a hidden gem in the South East, quintessentially British in a picture perfect setting,” on its website, the museum focuses on preserving and showcasing how people historically lived.
You can mosey around the entire museum when restrictions in England ease further on 17 May.
When restrictions lift, you have the opportunity to watch theatrical performances in the grounds, and take part in craft activities and trail walks.
The museum is open from 10.30am - 6pm during the British summer time, with an adult ticket costing £14. Other prices vary.
Can I visit The Repair Shop?
The Court Barn is accessible for fans of the series, though it is an indoor space and so is closed for the time being due to Covid restrictions.
Fans can wander around the barn, but don’t expect to bump into famous faces such as Will Kirk or Suzie Fletcher, as the barn is closed while filming of the show takes place.
Fans who wish to have an item restored by the team should also not expect this service on site, as the conservators who work alongside Blades, Fletcher and Kirk are not available for walk-in repairs.
How do I apply to go on The Repair Shop?
If you have an heirloom, antique or something special that you would like repaired, you can apply to appear on the show by contacting the BBC, applicants must be 18 years or over.
When is The Repair Shop on television?
