Screen Yorkshire bolsters board with industry figures known for the TV Mindset freelance support group and HBO's The Young Pope

Screen Yorkshire has announced that two high-profile media industry figures are joining its board of directors.

Adeel Amini and Samantha Glynne, both from Yorkshire, join the board this month, the organisation said today.

Screen Yorkshire, established as one of nine regional screen agencies by the UK Film Council in 2002, champions the film, television games and digital industries in Yorkshire and the Humber, and has helped to bring productions such as Peaky Blinders and Netflix hit Bridgerton to the region.

Adeel Amini, from Bradford, in 2018 formed the TV Mindset, a mental health support group for freelancers which advocates for constructive change in the industry.

He won the Edinburgh Television Festival Industry Champion Award 2020 for his work on behalf of freelancers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A senior entertainment producer, Mr Amini's television credits include Catchphrase, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Blind Date and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

He said: "As a proud Bradfordian, I'm thrilled to be joining the board of Screen Yorkshire.

Samantha Glynne is global senior vice president of branded entertainment at Fremantle, which creates and distributes drama, entertainment, factual and lifestyle shows, from The Young Pope and American Gods to the X Factor and Take Me Out.

Ms Glynne drives branded entertainment activities for Fremantle around the world, working with regional commercial and digital teams to deliver brand strategy.

She said: “Having grown up in Leeds, it’s a great privilege to join Screen Yorkshire and be part of bringing exciting new projects to the region.

"I’m excited to combine my day-job of activating meaningful commercial partnerships with my passion for the region. I’m sure I am going to learn an awful lot from my amazing fellow board members and I can’t wait to get started.”
