The Cult announce concert at Leeds Beckett University
Rock band The Cult are to play at Leeds Beckett University on their spring 2016 tour.
The four-piece, led by singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, are due to perform at the university on March 8 as part of a 12-date tour that coincides with the release of their new album Hidden City.
The title of the band’s 10th album is said to provide a metaphor for the revolt between the self and soul, which forms the framework of the album.
“My place is to observe, participate and share through words and music,” says Astbury. “There is no higher authority than the heart.”
The album is the final part of a trilogy that has witnessed the rebirth of the band, beginning with Born Into This (2007), followed by Choice of Weapon (2012).
Formed from the ashes of Bradford post-punk band the Southern Death Cult, The Cult went on to score massive hits in the 1980s with She Sells Sanctuary and Rain.
Tickets for their gig at Leeds Beckett University go on sale tomorrow at 10am. For details visit http://po.st/CultSee or http://po.st/CultMy
