Feisty, funny, and fearless; Tracy Beaker was the ultimate heroine of kids’ TV back in the noughties.
The Story Of Tracy Beaker, which ran on CBBC from 2002 to 2005, focused on the lives and experiences of young people in care, and was set at a residential care home that Tracy – played by Dani Harmer – nicknamed The Dumping Ground when she is placed there aged 10.

Here is everything you need to know about My Mum Tracy Beaker.
What happens in My Mum Tracy Beaker?
Now in her 30s, Tracy is doing everything she possibly can to give her 10-year-old daughter Jess (Emma Maggie Davies) the best start possible in life, working multiple jobs to keep a roof over their heads.
The three-part drama, which is based on Wilson’s 2018 sequel book, is told from Jess’ perspective as their lives are changed drastically by the arrival of Tracy’s rich new boyfriend, Sean Godfrey (Jordan Duvigneau), who is a recently retired football star.

Hide AdHarmer – who has a four-year-old daughter and was 12 when she filmed the first series of The Story Of Tracy Beaker – loved the relationship between Jess and Tracy, explaining “they’re not just mother and daughter, they’re friends as well. They tell each other everything, and they have loads of fun”.
Dani Harmer has said fans of Tracy Beaker will be pleased to see what a “great” parent her character has become in a new instalment of the popular television programme.
Harmer said: “Now she’s in her 30s and she’s a mum, so it’s been really cool for me because like everyone else, I really wanted to know what happened next and where Tracy’s journey is going to take her.
“I think everyone is going to be really pleased seeing how Tracy’s progressed and what a great mum she is.”
