Coronavirus: #LeedsSaysThanks to frontline workers with free tickets and offers
“From back-stage and behind the scenes at Leeds’ cultural and sports organisations - we thank you.
“You are focussed on caring for all of us. In return the sports centres, theatres, museums, cinemas, festivals, venues and galleries listed below pledge to provide thousands of free tickets, discounts and special events for you - when our doors are reopened.
“At the moment our turnstiles, stages and screens are all quiet. Many of us are instead turning our hands to volunteering in our communities to help with the effort.
“But we want to do more to thank you. It might be watching a game at Headingley or Elland Road, seeing your favourite artist up close, or VIP tickets to a show.
“We will be ready when you are.”
Leader of Leeds City Council, Councillor Judith Blake, said:
“In Leeds we have such a fantastically diverse and colourful cultural scene which unfortunately has been hard hit by the pandemic. However I know that when things start to go back to normal and doors begin to reopen, there will be an array of events, shows and exciting sporting fixtures to look ahead to.
“It is brilliant to see so many local businesses and organisations get involved with the scheme, and I really hope that these special offers will give NHS and frontline workers something to look forward to. I’d like to once again offer my thanks and appreciation to each and every one of them for their truly heroic response to the crisis.”
Frontline workers can keep watching out across social media for the hashtag #LeedsSaysThanks for these special offers from the various organisations. Other organisations are also welcomed to add their support by sharing their offers by also using the hashtag.
For specific details about each offer, please contact the organisations directly.
