Club and country are set to benefit following Leeds Rhinos hooker Kruise Leeming’s call into the England training squad.

The England Knights man trained with the full squad at Leeds Beckett University last week.

That puts him in contention to face Combined Nations All Stars in June and for the World Cup which begins six months on Friday.

He reckons being involved with England will boost his Rhinos form – and at the same time knows he has to play well for Leeds to remain in the international picture.

Leeming was not included when the training squad was initially announced, but got the call from England coach Shaun Wane soon afterwards.

“I was overwhelmed,” he said. “It was a dream of mine and what it has done is give me a bit more confidence and the knowledge I am obviously doing something right.

“Shaun spoke to me about some stuff he is doing and it correlated with my views and my beliefs, so it was a bit of reassurance and a confidence boost that what I am doing is good and to keep going.”

Leeming admitted there is a long way to go before he pulls on an England jumper.
