Atkinson's heroics keep Guiseley in the FA Cup

Guiseley entered the game on the back of two victories in the league and they showed good defensive work early on, Jake Muldoon was well placed after build-up play by the home attackers but Jake Lawlor was able to get his body in the way and made a good interception. Theo Robinson then had an attempt that he just could not get on target, Guiseley again able to shut out the Lincoln attack. Guiseley in the end could have grabbed the winner when Oli Johnson ran into space on the break but his effort was saved. Harrogate Town failed to rise to the big occasion as they exited the FA Cup 2-0 at the hands of Yorkshire rivals FC Halifax Town. Leading goalscorer Jon Paul Pittman limped off with a first-half injury, before Jordan Sinnott’s shot deflected off Paul Thirlwell to give Halifax a 69th-minute lead. Simon Ainge was then dismissed for a second yellow card, while referee Mr Khatib also waved away three Harrogate claims for a penalty. With time running out the hosts threw men forward to try and force a replay, but were undone when a sliced clearance allowed substitute Jake Hibbs to shoot into an empty net from inside his own half to make it 2-0 to Halifax. York City will travel to Curzon Ashton for a replay tonight after their FA Cup clash finished 1-1 on Saturday. Richard Brodie gave York the lead early on from the penalty spot before Niall Cummins replied for the visitors before half-time. The Chorley goals came from Jake Cottrell, Dale Whitham (2). **** Frickley Athletic let a 4-1 half-time lead slip against Premier Division leaders Buxton and had to settle for a 4-4 draw at the Westfield Lane Stadium on Saturday. Two goals in the first six minutes by Shiraz Khan gave Frickley the perfect start before Niall Doran got the visitors back into the game on 16 minutes. However, goals from Tyler Williams (24 minutes) and a penalty from Lee Williams (44) put Athletic in the driving seat. Joel Bembo-Leta gave Buxton hope and two goals in the final five minutes from Lee Bennett and Bembo-Leta meant the leaders rescued a point. Two second-half goals from Tom Corner were enough to earn Tadcaster Albion a 2-1 home victory over Droylsden in First Division North. Both goals came in the second half before Adam Farrell netted a consolation for Droylsden. The victory moves Albion up to third place in the table. Leaders Brighouse Town were held to a goalless draw at mid-table Prescot Cables. Lancaster City leapfrogged Farsley Celtic in the table after they triumphed 4-2 at Throstle Nest. Alex Davidson gave Celtic the lead on 43 minutes only for Lancaster’s Louis Mayers to equalise before half-time. A 54th-minute penalty from Richard Marshall put Farsley into the lead again but further goals from Joshua Westwood and Jordan Connerton (2) meant City came away with the points. Ossett Town suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Clitheroe. Alex Peterson had given Town an early lead but goals from Daniel Brady and Dimitri Tuanzebe meant the visitors took the spoils. Ossett Albion also lost 2-1 on their travels at Ramsbottom United. James Eyles put Albion into the lead after 30 minutes from the penalty spot but goals from Sam Freakes and Darren Green won the game for United. **** LIVERSEDGE slipped to second spot in the NCEL Premier Division after a 5-2 defeat at Hemsworth Miners Welfare. Harrison Blakey and Vaughan Redford netted Liversedge’s goals in the first-half but a hat-trick from Billy Law and goals from Nicholas Guest and Ashley Smith saw the hosts claim a resounding victory. All the goals came in the first half as Garforth Town drew 2-2 with Harrogate Railway Athletic. Town sprinted out of their blocks to establish a 2-0 advantage after only six minutes thanks to goals from Luke Kitson and Lee Turner. But a Jack McMurrough own goal on 29 minutes and a penalty from Paul Beesley just before half-time earned Railway a share of the spoils. Elsewhere in the Premier Division, a brace from Brett Agnew and a goal from Nicky McNamara saw Bridlington Town to a 3-2 victory at Rainworth Miners Welfare. Selby Town moved into third-place in Division One with a thumping 5-0 victory over Westella & Willerby. Town’s goals were scored by Calum Ward, Liam Flanagan, Thomas Hogg, James Arnold and Scott Jones. Two late goals meant sixth-placed Knaresborough Town had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to AFC Emley. A Tom Hesketh penalty gave Town the perfect start on 14 minutes and the advantage was doubled just before half-time through Brad Walker. But late goals from Samuel Jerome (88) and Ahley Flynn (90) meant Emley snatched a draw. Pontefract Collieries went down 4-2 at Hall Road Rangers. Kane Reece and Christopher Jackson netted for Pontefract. A goal three minutes from time meant Glasshoughton Welfare slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to Hallam. Conor Glavin gave Welfare the lead on 33 minutes only for a Callum Harrison own goal to bring the visitors level. Lewis Akeister put Welfare back into the lead on 81 minutes but goals from Jed Phillips and Simon Mirfin won the game for Hallam. Goals from Ryan Donoghue and Antony Brown could not prevent Nostell Miners Welfare going down to a 4-2 defeat at Winterton Rangers. Yorkshire Amateur went down 3-2 at home to leaders Penistone Church. Adam Shaw and T’nique Fishley netted for Amateur.
