YEP letters: December 3

Here's a selection of today's readers' letters and comments.

John Turner, Western Street, Leeds

i WAITED from 14.35 to 15.05 for a 42 bus last week (November 28) on the Headrow, in the Wortley direction, that should be at 10 minute intervals. Another 42 bus overtook us whilst 20 people got on, and when I alighted outside the Hanover Arms on Lower Wortley road, two more 42 buses were behind us – that makes four 42 buses following each other around within a couple of minutes of each other. It was ridiculous!

Could the controller not make use of the realtime info and redirect some of them – for example, if they are behind each other, the passengers from one could be asked to get on the other one so that there is a spare bus to fill up the gaps in this often very poor service?

Whilst waiting, I also saw two 42 buses going up the Headrow together in the opposite direction so it really was bad.

Surely at this quiet time of the day the buses should be a bit more organised and orderly?

So that is four buses together one way, and two the other way – now I know why it is called the “42”!

WHEN at my dentist to make an appointment this week I heard the receptionist tell someone on the phone they had been crossed off because they missed two appointments and failed to cancel them. The attitude of many people today who think they can ride over any responsibilities is deplorable.

Worse still with doctors appointments, where my surgery had over 580 missed last month. This is why deposits should be made and returned if you turn up.

Where is the deterrent?

M Chadderton, Blue Hill Crescent, Wortley, Leeds

What deterrents have we in today’s law which helps to prevent and control the present unlawful actions which are carried out by a great number of our population?

Take guns and knife crimes that have been on the increase.

Look at the recent statistics, the killings of local MP Jo Cox, and teacher Ann Maguire and knife attacks that occur in the city today.
