Met Office issues surprising weather update for Leeds - forecast for the weekend in full

But there are still set to be outbreaks of rain this afternoon and on Sunday.
The Met Office had previously issued a yellow storm warning covering Leeds but the city now looks as if it will escape the storm entirely.

Hide AdThe warning - which includes spells of heavy rain may lead to some travel disruption and flooding - covers much of England tomorrow and Friday, but is set to peter out as it reaches Sheffield.
However, rain is still set to hit Leeds today (Thursday) from 4pm to 7pm.
Sunday is set to see long spells or rain too.
Here is the updated Met Office weather forecast for Leeds for the next few days:
Thursday: Thursday will start cool and cloudy with an occasional mainly light shower. Staying cloudy through the afternoon with further periods of mainly light rain. Turning dry by evening with brighter skies in the west. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Hide AdBright at first but cloud will slowly increase through the morning. A slow moving band of locally heavy or thundery rain will move into the south during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 18 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Early rain clearing on Saturday leaving a dry but fairly cloudy day. Unsettled on Sunday and Monday with thundery showers, merging at times into longer spells of heavy rain.
