'She was my best friend and I’ll do her proud': Sister of Moortown mum Tori Wilson aims to raise £5,000 to set up bereavement charity in her name after tragic car crash death

Victoria ‘Tori’ Wilson and her friend Sacha Holmes died after their car hit a tree on Carr Lane, Thorner, in the early hours of Thursday October 29 last year.
Tori, a full-time mum-of-two, had just celebrated her 30th birthday at the time of the tragedy,

Hide AdHundreds of pink ribbons and gold hearts were placed around Moortown by Tori's family and friends in tribute to her in the days after the incident.
Seven months on, Tori's sister Laura is keeping her alive in the community’s thoughts by raising money to set up a charity to support other bereaved families.
Laura said: “I want to be able to help others who have suffered.
"I’m taking something bad and I’m trying to do something positive with it.”
So far, Laura has raised almost £2,500.

Hide AdFundraising events have included a nine-mile walk and a bush tucker trial inspired by 'I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here'.
Laura and her family also arranged for a green box to be painted in memory of Tori on the Cranmer Bank estate.
She has received many positive comments about the box on social media. One reads: “It’s just like Tori - bright and makes me smile”.
The community have supported by generously donating vouchers, cupcakes and more to help Laura reach her goal.

Hide AdLaura, a mum of twin toddlers, added: “The comments from others is warming for me and my family”.
“The amount of support and love I have received has been amazing. I’ve felt an overwhelming sense of love for my sister and our family.
"She was my best friend and I’ll do her proud.
“Tori was loved by many, many people.
“When I’m doing these events, I feel like she is still here.
"I guess it helps me with my grieving process as she is constantly in my thoughts and I know she is still in the minds of others.

Other events are also planned including a fancy dress karaoke.
Laura and her brother Oliver are also aiming to walk Yorkshire‘s three peaks later this year.
Laura plans for the charity to be called STori, which she hopes will honour her sister and help her to live on in the memory of others.

Hide AdThe logo will be printed across the tickets of a forthcoming boxing event hosted by Scott McHugh, who will also be auctioning off an item on the night.
Laura said: “I push on even on the toughest of days. Life is hard without Tori but, as long as I’m doing things for her, I feel like she is with me and her memory is still alive”.
