Man suffered 'open fracture' to his nose after being headbutted during dispute about getting served at The Backroom nightclub in Leeds city centre

The victim suffered an open fracture to his nose after being attacked by Paulo Samado at The Backroom, Call Lane, on July 20, 2019.
Leeds Crown Court heard the incident happened during a dispute between Samado and the victim as they struggled to get served at the bar.

Hide AdKristina Goodwin, prosecuting, said Samado approached the victim and his friend at the bar and asked: "Can I get in there?"
Ms Goodwin said: "The complainant replied that they were waiting to get a drink and 'were not standing there for a laugh.'"
A struggle broke out when Samado tried to get in between the two men to get served.
Samado headbutted the victim with such force that it knocked his head backwards.
Security staff restrained Samado and police were called.

Hide AdThe 32-year-old defendant was arrested and taken to Elland Road police station.
The victim needed hospital treatment after the assault.
Samado, of Hardy Grove, Beeston, admitted carrying out the attack when he was interviewed and was apologetic for his actions.
He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Phillip Mahoney said Samado has no previous convictions and pleaded guilty to the offence at an early stage.

Hide AdThe barrister said his client had not been in trouble since the incident.
Samado was made the subject of an 18-month community order, during which time he must complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
Judge Robin Mairs said: "It is a shame you find yourself with this conviction.
"You were quite clearly in drink when you headbutted him."
