Kitten found in middle of Stanningley bypass after quick-thinking member of public used iPhone app

A kitten was found by police in the middle of Stanningley bypass after a quick-thinking member of the public used an app.

What3Words allows users to give out their location to within a 3m x 3m square.

The app works by defining every square as three words - which police or the emergency services can use for precise location.

West Yorkshire Police contact management centre were called with reports of a kitten being spotted in the middle of the bypass.

The force tweeted: "Reports of a kitten in the middle of Stanningley Bypass and the caller used @what3words.

"We arrived on scene and pin point on the 3 words used we found a little kitten and he is alive. #GreatWork."

The kitten was found alive.

He is now being transported to the vets, police said.
