Swap your tinned food for a swanky cocktail as part of The Alchemist foodbank drive
and live on Freeview channel 276
The upmarket cocktail bar, which has a site in the Trinity Centre and in Greek Street, is offering a free colour-changing cocktail to people that donate a non-perishable food item.
It is part of a joint initiative between the The Alchemist, vodka brand Grey Goose and social enterprise Foodinate.

Hide AdThe move is in response to the increase in people relying on food banks since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Approximately,100,000 households began using foodbanks for the very first time over lockdown, according to the Trussell Trust.
Foodbank usage is expected to increase further in usage over the Christmas period.
The swap event will be held on Tuesday, October 13.
It is one cocktail exchange per person, but larger donations are welcome.

Hide AdTinned, dried and packaged foods will be accepted but they must be unopened and in date.
The Alchemist Trinity and Greek Street will accept food items throughout the day and will be respecting distancing measures by offering a takeaway cocktail for those unable to enjoy in the venue.
All donations will then be taken to Raise – St Anne’s Community Service to help those in need.
Tackling food poverty has been a long-term passion for The Alchemist.

Hide AdLast year’s Swap Shop initiative saw over 3,000 donations collected.
The brand has been partnered with Foodinate since May 2018 and provides hot and nourishing meals for those in need in local communities when guests order any menu items marked with the Foodinate fork logo.
To date they have provided 65,000 meals for the social enterprise.
