The Vickers factory on Austhorpe Road in east Leeds was making the news for all the wrong reasons after plans were revealed for its closure. Elsewhere a racy cartoon depiction of a nurse promoting a night out at well known Leeds nightspot was causing controversy and a popular girl band turned up in Leeds to surprise a fan.
