These photo gems turn back the clock to showcase a decade in the life of Burmantofts in the 1930s.

This gallery features a number of local landmarks ranging from the Regal cinema and York Road public swimming baths and the public library through to the factory of ‘The Tailor of Taste’ and well known places of worship. Familiar streets such as Stoney Rock Lane and Nippet Lane are also in focus as well as a Royal visit. The images are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
