Look what this Leeds man is doing to raise £10k for Martin House Hospice
Michael Armitage will ship the car to New York for the nine-day, 3,179 miles drive he will undertake with his film director son Jay, to Jay’s home in Los Angeles.
He will then leave his dream car as a birthday present to his son. The men hope to raise £10,000 for Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People.

Hide AdMr Armitage, 76, bought the Porsche in 1995. That same year he was assaulted by thieves who stole the car, then damaged and abandoned it. Luckily it could be repaired and he continued to drive it.
He said: “It feels like the right time to pass it on to Jay. The climate in California will be perfect for it.
“Plus, I can still use it whenever I visit. I’m looking forward to cruising along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.”
He has kept the car in pristine condition, handwashing it every Sunday while listening to The Archers.
