Castleford Tigers set to sign Niall Evalds after Salford Red Devils announce departure

Salford Red Devils have confirmed England Knights full-back will leave the club at the end of this year, clearing the way for him to officially join Castleford Tigers.

Salford issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon, the day after League Express newspaper reported Evalds was on his way to Castleford.

"In respect of this player movement, Salford Red Devils are extremely disappointed with the decision made by Niall Evalds and his representative for the full-back to end his time at the club following the conclusion of the 2020 season," the statement said.

"Following a period of negotiations during February and March, Evalds was 48 hours away from signing a new deal to stay at Salford for a further three years, which had been agreed by all parties.
