Hide AdAugustin joined the Elland Road ranks in January on a loan deal from the Bundesliga outfit with an obligation to buy should Leeds earn promotion to the Premier League.
The Paris Saint-Germain academy product failed to make a serious impact in West Yorkshire, struggling with a calf injury and the fitness demands required by Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentine said it was the most 'convenient' thing that Augustin returned to his parent club following the season's resumption in June amid a coronavirus pandemic that left United in a dispute over the transfer.
Leipzig's commercial sporting director Florian Scholz just last month threatened legal action against Leeds for not taking up the deal for the forward after promotion was secure.
