A fire crew was called out to extinguish a blaze at the rear of a house in Harcourt Road, Lancaster at around 9.30pm.
Black smoke from the fire upset neighbours who had their bedroom windows open on a warm night. Now the fire brigade is urging householders to be considerate to others.
“People should know that they can face a fine of up to £5,000,” said crew manager John Holmes at Lancaster. “If it is persistent we can report them to the council and get them prosecuted.”
