The awards are based on our weekly restaurant reviews and were first started in 2007.
The ceremony saw Michael O’Hare, the man behind The Man Behind the Curtain, which last year scooped Leeds its first Michelin Star in more than 10 years, win Best Chef and be declared Overall Winner.

Our award for Outstanding Contribution went to Tim Bilton, the chef behind The Spiced Pear in Hepworth. Tim has contracted cancer for the second time but despite his illness, he and wife Adele, have managed not only to keep their restaurant running but maintain the highest of standards, earning plaudits from critics and their peers alike.
Nicola Furbisher, editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post, who delivered the opening address, said: “It’s one of the highlights of our year and one of the things we’re most proud of in this city is the calibre of restaurants and those who work in them. They all work hard to make them - and the city as a whole - a success. This is a pat on the back for them and we’re proud to be able to shine a light on them.”
Other winners included Pintura, who won our Best World category and Gusto, which won Best Suburban. There were two new categories this year, Best Rural and Best Street Food, both of which were introduced by popular demand.
