West Yorkshire’s care homes and nursing services have the second worst record in the country for meeting national standards, according to new research.

It has emerged that almost one in five facilities in the region has been rated as ‘requires improvement’ or worse by national health watchdog the Care Quality Commission.

Just 81 per cent of the 766 care and nursing services which have been inspected in the region meet national standards – a record worsened only by the Isle of Wight which has far fewer care facilities.
